Foppe Mulder - singer
Foppe is a passionate singer with love for good music and lyrics.
His voice sweeps you off your feet with a warmth and depth of emotions.
Here is what he has to say in a personal introduction:
Born and raised in a small village in the province of Friesland, was the best start in life for me.
As a child I couldn't ask for more. It wasn't a material way of living during those days, but the most important thing was that we were a warm family, living in harmony and we felt safe.
Even though you had to work hard to make your dreams come true, there was already a solid basis for life.
When it comes to music there are two things I always will remember.
First: the moments when my father would be playing the mouth harp (harmonica) and I would just have to sing along with him. It felt really good.
Second: there were occasions during our yearly county fair, when different kinds of people would be singing in the local pub and packing his or her life story in a song...very impressive!!
As a singer I started at a pretty late age. At 40 I started singing in a church choir and a few years later I also joined a Shanty Choir. It didn’t take all that long when it was decided that I was suitable to sing the majority sections of the lead songs. I enjoyed this and it was a lot of fun.
A few years later a colleague of mine (Theo) and I started performing as duo “Bêst Genôch”.
December 2011 we released our debut album “Los Fan 'e Grûn”.
We recorded our album in the same studio as were Till had recorded her songs earlier that year and it was pure coincidence that I came into contact with Till.
We had a nice conversation and the result was that Till agreed to compose some songs for us!
Till, collaborating with poet and writer Jogchum Dijkstra, composed a number of Frisian songs which we plan on recording in the near future.
I hope by singing these songs, they will give me the same flow I get when listening to my favourite music by the late Mr. John Wright.
In the meantime here is a medley of Neil Diamond songs I recorded. Hope you enjoy!
